This movie was created from original 1918 photographs in the author’s collection. The May 18, 1918 Red Cross parade promised to be the greatest parade ever held in Los Angeles. Fifty-one groups marched: nurses, the largest military band, seven musical organizations, real stuffed animal floats, an ostrich cart and many leaf covered floats.

Nurses demonstrate the mechanism of an iron lung (artificial respirator). The nurses place the patient in the machine, feed her, perform hygiene, take vital signs, and give an enema.
